Global Warming is in the Air

The Science

Greenhouse Gases DiagramThroughout history, the Earth’s climate has changed many times — experiencing drought, extended periods of high temperatures, and even ice ages.  For the last century,  the global economy has become increasingly dependent on the use of fossil fuels to power our way of life. With our increased use of carbon-emitting fossil fuels, such as coal  and oil, the scientific community agrees that humans are negatively affecting the climate.

Burning fossil fuels emits carbon dioxide (CO2) and other gases into the air, acting like a greenhouse to trap heat on the surface.  Although some level of greenhouse gases is required to maintain normal temperatures, the rate of increase in the last 40 years has far  exceeded naturally occurring levels.  According to the Intergovernmental Panel on  Climate Change, global CO2 emissions due to human activities have grown 70% between 1970 and 2004.  This rapid increase will likely lead to rising sea levels,  droughts, and warmer temperatures that disrupt ecosystems.

The Solution

While scientists continue gathering data showing dramatic climate shifts, efforts to discover solutions are growing. Around the globe, people like you are changing the way they live to  conserve energy and reduce their carbon footprint.

At BeGreen, we believe in doing our part.   That’s why our business is to help slow  climate change.  When you reduce and offset your carbon footprint with BeGreen, your actions also help to protect natural resources, drive economic expansion for clean technologies, and reduce foreign energy dependence.

We hope you’ll join us to help lead the world toward a more sustainable future for generations to come.
